Chino Hills roads and your tires
Rolling hills
The city covers about 45 square miles, much of it open hills, and its neighborhoods sit on slopes and curves. Climbing, braking and turning all day wear the front tires first.
Carbon Canyon Road
State Route 142 is the one road straight from Chino Hills into Orange County. It has tight curves and is prone to landslides. Winding roads show up fast as uneven wear when the alignment is off.
The 71 on the east edge
The Chino Valley Freeway runs along the city's eastern border and connects to the 60 to the north and the 91 to the south. Steady freeway miles are where a small imbalance becomes a shake.
Summer heat
Average highs are about 89°F in July and August. Heat pushes pressure up through the day, so check and set your tires cold.
