Carlisle tires in Montclair

Carlisle is the trailer tire you have probably already towed on, because it is original equipment on many boat, utility and RV trailers. The brand started in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1917 and today belongs to Carlstar, which Titan International bought in 2024.

Carlstar Group, Franklin, Tennessee, a Titan International company since 2024. The Carlisle name is licensed from Carlisle Companies Inc.

Mounted, balanced and installed on Moreno Street.

About Carlisle

Charles Moomy founded Carlisle Tire and Rubber in 1917 to make inner tubes for Montgomery Ward. It grew into Carlisle Tire & Wheel, was folded into Carlisle Transportation Products in 2011, and was sold by Carlisle Companies to American Industrial Partners at the end of 2013. The business was renamed The Carlstar Group in 2015, and Titan International closed its purchase of Carlstar on February 29, 2024.

Carlisle makes tires for lawn mowers, golf carts, ATVs and skid steers too, but the lines a tire shop stocks are the ST trailer tires. The Radial Trail HD is the current mainstream radial, the Sport Trail LH is the bias-ply value tire, and the All Steel Radial covers heavy fifth-wheel and equipment trailers in load range G.

One thing to know: Carlstar has been moving Carlisle-branded tires to the Carlstar name, so a new set may say Carlstar on the sidewall where the old one said Carlisle. Same factory lineage, same lines.

Anyone towing a boat to Silverwood or Perris, hauling a utility or car trailer up the 15, or re-tiring a travel trailer before a Colorado River weekend.

Carlisle questions

Who makes Carlisle tires?

The Carlstar Group of Franklin, Tennessee, which has been part of Titan International since February 2024. Carlstar was the Carlisle Companies tire and wheel division until 2013, and still uses the Carlisle trademark under license while it moves the products to the Carlstar name.

Can I put Carlisle trailer tires on my truck?

No. ST tires are built for trailer axles only, with stiffer sidewalls and speed ratings that assume no steering or driving loads. Put them on the trailer, check the pressure cold before every trip, and replace them on age as well as tread.
